January 12, 2009 Minutes

A regular meeting of the Columbia Riding Club Board of Directors was called to order by Vice-President Anita Butler on Monday, January 12, 2009 at Hot Z - s Pizza. Eight board members present included Anita Butler, Christina Fry, Dick Getz, Pat Hill, Amanda Reed, Diane Reese, Brent Talbot, and Steve Vrabel There were also three other members present. Minutes from the December meeting were read and approved.

Ways and Means

Kathy Bowman and Kathy Smeltzer suggested having a community service day with vendors renting stands to sell used tack and yard sale items, along with having various activities which may include an open ring riding day in the upper ring.

Buildings and Grounds

Steve reported the lower ring gate toward the upper ring was open. Also, the tractor will be serviced soon. Everything else is OK at the club.

Old Business

A spring clean-up was set for April 4 at 11 am. Election of 2009 officers is as follows: President - Steve Vrabel, Vice-President - Christina Fry, Secretary - Diane Reese, and Treasurer - Pat Hill. Committee chairs are: Show - Amanda Reed and Christina Fry, co-chairmen, Membership - Diane Reese, and Grounds - Dick Getz and Steve Vrabel, co-chairmen. Ways and Means committee will again be as needed.

Membership

We will add a waiver and photo release to the membership form and it will be sent to the members with the next newsletter, and posted on the website.

New Business

There was a discussion concerning making Dick Getz a lifetime board member. This appointment is at the discretion of the board and it is in addition to the nine elected board members A member may be designated a Lifetime Board member with full voting privileges after a minimum of 20 years of service, remaining a member in good standing, and a unanimous vote by the current board.

Horse Show Committee

Amanda reported sponsor forms will be mailed the week of the January 19. Books were passed out for review of year end and other awards. Mary Glazier wants to attend the next show committee meeting in order to discuss the Fall Festival / 60th anniversary show. Amanda went over responses from the web survey form

The next regular board meeting is Scheduled for Monday, February 9 at Hot Z's.
