June 2009 Minutes
A regular meeting of the Columbia Riding Club Board of Directors was called to order by President Steve Vrabel on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 7:05 pm at the club. Seven board members present included Mark Anderson, Anita Butler Christina Fry, Dick Getz, Diane Reese, Brent Talbot, and Steve Vrabel There were also three other members in attendance. Minutes from the May meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer's Report
In Pat's absence, Steve reported a on current balance
Buildings and Grounds
Steve and Jim Haugh sprayed weeds before the meeting. This included around both rings. Steve purchased six blue barrels for trash. The roof still needs work and the leak in the ladies room was repaired. Our neighbor volunteered to mow the ring and the outside area toward his house. His wife planted outside the clubhouse on the ring side.
Membership
We have a total of 74; 33 are new for this year.

Advertising
We have an ad in the current "Paper Horse". We missed last month's deadline for the "Equiery" but our ad will appear in the next issue.
Youth
Three youth attended Brent's May 31 clinic. It was very well presented and greatly appreciated by those in attendance. The next youth clinic is scheduled for July.
Old Business
The police used the ring on a past Thursday in May and took very good care of the grounds. A Montie Eagle clinic is scheduled for June 27.
Horse Show Committee
There were 167 entries in the youth show,
New Business
Shows scheduled June 14 include a hunter show in the upper ring and a pleasure show in the lower ring. There was a discussion concerning open ring nights. Terri Vrabel expressed that many people are considering joining if these are a benefit. Christina Fry motioned to have open ring nights every Thursday, except after a Wednesday show. Anita seconded the motion and it was passed. These will start June 25 and be posted on the website. Christina also reported that 13 are entered in the year end Wednesday points and 37 are entered in the year end Sunday points.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 13, at the club.
Dick moved to adjourn at 8:15 and Brent seconded.
