January 2011 Minutes

Columbia Riding Club Secretary's Report /Minutes

January 3rd 2011

A regular meeting of the Columbia Riding Club Board of Directors was called to order by President Brent Talbot on Monday, January 3rd 2011 at Hot Z's Pizza. Six board members present included Heather Anderson, Amanda Reed, Kelley Livelsberger, Brent Talbot, Mark Anderson and Christina Fry. There were also four other members/guests present. Minutes from the December meeting were not read due to the fact that we did not have a secretary at the time.

Treasurer's Report

Pat is still in Arizona enjoying her Christmas/New Year's Holiday so no report was given.

Membership

We have decided to keep the membership cost the same this year. We also decided to have a membership drive. The prize and deadline will be determined at the next meeting. Card color for membership cards this year will be Blue.

Buildings and Grounds

Steve Vrable, who has been our Ground Chairperson for the last eight years, has stepped down this year. Mark Anderson has graciously accepted the position.

Ways and Means

We will be contacting Kathy Bowman and/or Kathy Smeltzer about the Community Day project. It was discussed that we would like to see vendors at our horse shows. Angie Buckwalter's husband is a salesman for horse trailers, and is interested in having a trailer at our shows for publicity and also sponsoring one/some of our events. Heather also has a name of a person who is also interested in being a vendor at CRC.

Kelley will be looking over the sponsorship and advertising forms to simplify them for this show season.

Elections

Elections for the 2011 officers were made:

2011 Officers are as follows:

President: Brent Talbot

Vice President: Heather Anderson

Secretary: Christina Fry

Treasurer: Pat Hill

Horse Show Committee

Almost all the judges have been hired, with contracts going out by mid January. We discussed changing the class list for the Spring show and also the Sunday Pleasure Shows. Wednesday Night shows will at this point stay the same as last year. We will be discussing adding Mini classes to possibly the Fall Fun Show. It was also discussed eliminating the June 29th Wednesday Pleasure Show since it coincides with another local clubs show, and that we do not have a judge hired for that show yet.

Old Business

None

New Business

Amanda has been contacted by Lori Borys about a possible "Vaccine" Clinic for CRC members and the 4-h clubs, conducted by Edelson Equine Associates. This would be a great opportunity for members and 4-hers to bring their horse(s)/pony(ies) to the CRC grounds and have vaccines and coggins tests given with deep discounts to both members and 4-hers. Amanda will be contacting Lori for more information and to refine the details.

Kelley will be looking into possible Clinics for the 2011 year. She will get more information and let us know at the next meeting. We are interested in possibly doing 3 this year; a Hunt Seat Clinic, a Western Clinic, and a Trail Clinic.

The next Horse show committee meeting is scheduled for Monday January 17th at Hot Z's Pizza, at 6:30pm. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 7th 2011 at Hot Z's Pizza at 7pm.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:55pm

Respectfully submitted,

Christina Fry

Secretary
