March 7, 2011 Minutes
A regular meeting of the Columbia Riding Club Board of Directors was called to order by President Brent Talbot on Monday, March 7th 2011 at Hot Z's Pizza. Eight board members present included Mark Anderson, Kelley Livelsberger, Brent Talbot, Steve Vrabel, Pat Hill and Christina Fry. There were also four other members/guests present. Minutes from the February meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer's Report
Pat gave the treasurer's report. Our current balance is $3,858.93. We do have some deposits for sponsorships and memberships
Buildings and Grounds
Mark is inquiring about bids for mowing services. Mark also will be looking at a gate for the upper ring. Dave Hill has also volunteered his service for mowing when needed this season. Mark will be checking with our CRC neighbor Mack about mowing the inside lower ring. A Key change/update was also discussed.
Ways and Means
Kelley had received 875 dollars in sponsors so far and 45 dollars in gift certificates. She has also had a commitment of 400 dollars.
Kelley is also still looking for silent action items for the Spring show. Pat said that she will have some items to donate.
Membership
We currently have 12 members who are paid in full with membership cards.
Horse Show Committee
Feb. 21st meeting was canceled by me for weather related problems.
We now have Mid Penn classes added to the June 12th show.
We are also Approved for PAC, and have received the hobby Horse rookie rewards.
Advertising
Kelley will be doing the advertising for Paper horse and other advertisements. The board members voted on a 600 dollar budget to be reviewed and added to during the show season.
Clinics
Brent will be our host for the April 2nd Vet Clinic.
Old Business
We will not be holding a Community Day this year; instead we have decided to hold a canned food drive all year at CRC shows to benefit the Columbia Food Bank. Our Spring Clean up will be held on April 2nd and April 9th. Pat will be contacting the proper people to make sure we will have water.
Christina presented "CRC bucks" to promote volunteerism in our club and to reward those who help. It was approved and passed. Anyone volunteering 1 hour will receive 1 CRC buck.
Food Vendors for Wednesday shows will be offered to the local 4-H clubs. Kelley and Brent will be making the contacts to the local clubs.
We received a lease from the Morgan Horse Club.
Steve McFalls presented to the club his ideas for some clinics. It was decided that is would be presented to the Horse Show Committee at their next meeting.
Kelley will be contacting local horse supply vendors such as Wengers to prompt vendors at our shows.
New Business
Our First show of the season is on April 30th I am in charge of this show and will be hoping to contact volunteers .
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 47th 2011 at Hot Z's Pizza at 7pm.
